Father's Day Keychains

School-age 3

The month of June the children have been working hard on creating and personalizing their Father’s Day gifts. It all started when we were thinking of ideas for Father’s Day. Yulia mentioned she wanted to make something for her dad that he can see and have with him every day. Scaffolding on this, educator Kelsey thought it would be neat to create a keychain for their car keys as a remembrance of being a dad.  This gift is sentimental as each individualized keychain was homemade for their father by the group. The group first started by having a theme of the keychain, in which they came up with the idea of a mini tie, as this represents a father wearing a tie. Kelsey mentioned to the group for designing the tie, to pick colours that reflect their dad, along with colours that their dad may enjoy to wear. Along with the tie cut out, the group also picked out some beads that represented their father’s favourite colour in order to create the keychain aspect.

The gift aspect of the keychain for their car keys is something that is an everyday use and dads will always think of the love and time that went into making them. Once the keychains came together we laminated them as this will last longer and allow them to more durable for use as a keychain. Emily highlighted to the group, “my dad loves the guitar so I will add that in his tie as this represents him.” A lot of our group really put a lot of heart and soul into their keychains for their dads. Well done group 3 on your homemade keychains made with love/ caring for your dads.
