Craft Building Competition

School-age 3

Our School-age 3 group thrives on competitions, especially since they're naturally competitive at this stage, particularly being the older group. It all began with Michael suggesting, "Let's switch things up from drawing and try a building craft competition this time." This idea ignited excitement among everyone as it presented an opportunity to showcase our creativity and skills.

Michael embarked on his creation using origami paper, showcasing his craftsmanship. Dylan kicked off his project with popsicle sticks and hot glue, demonstrating impressive fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to craft a detailed boat. He brought it to life by envisioning a complete scene, complete with a realistic dock.

Given the Valentine's month theme, I suggested adding hearts for extra flair, which Dylan enthusiastically embraced, even incorporating heart accents into his design. Yulia showcased her creativity by constructing an elevator using cardboard, hot glue, string, and paint, complete with a functional pulling mechanism for going up and down. She, too, incorporated hearts into her design to tie in with the Valentine's theme.

Emily Z used her innovative thinking and crafted a heart gumball machine, starting with cardboard and hot glue, then painting and adding a functional mechanism using origami paper for the gumballs. Each pull of the string dispensed a colorful heart-shaped gumball, enhancing the interactive charm of her creation.

Witnessing our group's focused efforts on this competition and the diverse array of unique crafts brings me such joy. Well done to everyone in Group 3 for your dedication to learning and creativity every day after school! I eagerly anticipate what imaginative experiences await us next!
