Christmas Ornaments

School-age 3

The month of December the School-Age 3 group have been busy working on their custom designed Christmas ornaments. Educator Kelsey posed the question to the group what they would like to do for Christmas gifts for their parents. An over numbering majority of the group mentioned their interest in painting ornaments. This outcome comes to as no surprise as the group has been very into painting lately after their prior painting competition in November.

Kelsey started the process by printing out a variety of different styles of ornaments and designs. She then presented this to the group as a way to inspire them prior to painting their own ornament. The group then got to work, using various painting mediums, colors and materials. Some of the group even brought character to their ornaments as they began painting a nativity scene and the wisemen’s with a fine paintbrush. Others chose to have a more abstract ornament, which highlighted various paint techniques and designs.

The group was focused and invested in the entirety of this experience. It brought the group together and allowed them to share stories of their own Holiday Traditions, which of course included tree decorating. Some of the children even chose to design two ornaments, enough for mom and dad to enjoy. The group is excited to gift these and bring them home to put on their own trees! The group added the finishing touches to their gifts by decorating their own present bags and added a card to go along with the ornament. The love and thoughtfulness that went along with the creation on their ornaments showed dedication and caring as we need oh so much this time of year. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from group 3 at RisingOaks. We will see you in 2024!
