Preschool 1 had so much fun giving our muddy toy cars and trucks a big car wash! The children gathered around the tuff tray with a container filled with soapy water, scrub brushes, and lots of excitement. They carefully scrubbed the mud off the vehicles, splashed water, and worked together to make the cars shiny and clean again. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and busy little hands hard at work.
This activity encouraged the children to explore sensory play while building important skills through hands-on learning. As they scrubbed and rinsed the vehicles, they practiced fine motor skills, cooperation, and problem-solving. The children showed curiosity about how the soap and water cleaned the mud away, and many took pride in making the trucks and cars look “brand new” again. It was wonderful to see them communicating, sharing tools, and using their imaginations during play.
We wonder how we can extend this learning even further! The children may enjoy creating their own muddy obstacle course for the vehicles before washing them again, or comparing which cleaning tools work best. We could also add different materials like sponges, spray bottles, or bubbles to encourage more experimentation and discovery. The preschoolers were so engaged that this could become an exciting ongoing sensory and science experience!
