Sliding into January

School-age 1

This month at RisingOaks Early Learning | Saint John Paul II, the School-age 1 children have welcomed the new year playing in the winter weather. With all the snow fall and rain we have had, the children have had the opportunity to play in the snow and slide on ice patches found on the field. In the snow the children made snow angels, and with their peers made snowballs trying to make a perfect round shape. They played on the hill sliding down on the icy snow trying to see how far they could make it on the hill. On the ice, the children made it a game to see who could stay standing the longest or took a running start sliding as far as they could. Many of the children took an interest in the icicles hanging from the portables, trying to break them off the top or find them in the snow along the ground. It became a challenge to see who could find the biggest one, but it was also a great activity for engagement and teamwork as the children worked together to help their peers find one for themselves.
