Program Name: School-age 2

Greetings from School-Age two! We have been busy learning through free play and exploration during the last few weeks. On November 11th, the day of Remembrance, we took time to honour the fallen, Canada's Veterans and currently serving military and police members for their courage, service and sacrifice, at home and around the world, as well as their families and their loved ones. We discussed the importance of the day as a group and we shared our knowledge and understanding together.

Gabriel said: " It's the day that people sacrificed their lives to save others."

Jay said: "Those people are soldiers!"

Emilia said:" And we honor them on November 11th at 11 o'clock."

Robbyn said: " It all happened during the war but we still remember that on this day and we stay silent for two minutes. "

Elena said:" Teacher, those soldiers protect us. "

We also made a group project about the Poppy; the symbol of this day and we created our own Flanders Field. Children became united and they put their courage and creativity together to make it special. And that's how we took time to remember. We were proud to display our creations around the school and partake in such an important day.

On this day, we all stood up side by side to say, “Remembrance Day, lest we forget.”. When We will remember them.

Remembrance Day is the time to talk to children about the importance of honouring the history of Canada and the previous generations of Canadians. As educators we are honoured to educate our children based on history. Lest we forget.
