Pretend Play: Soup Making!

Print
Program Name: Toddler 2

The month of February is an exciting one filled with some spectacular and fun days to celebrate, one of them being National Homemade Soup Day! This day, which fell on February 4th, 2026 is all about comfort and making a bowl of your favourite soup. The toddler 2 room celebrated by engaging in a pretend play experience that involved mixing a variety of loose parts, water, and food colouring into individual bowls.

As each toddler participated in this activity, they utilized various skills such as mixing, stirring, and pouring. All of which helped to build on their fine motor skills, and creativity. The toddlers were also able to enjoy sensory exploration through the water play component of this activity. We observed them dipping their hands into the water and splashing it around.

Our toddlers love anything to do with getting messy, and with this soup making activity we were able to all play alongside with each other, and share in celebrating such a unique day.
