Preschool 1

I noticed that the children have been enjoying gross motor activities Inside and outside at Rising Oaks. They have been bouncing balls, doing and asking for parachute games, running, jumping and dancing. We have been exploring different genres of music to dance to such as (hip hop, reggae, folk and nursery rhymes). The children have been moving their bodies different ways according to the beat and the rhythm of the music. They have also enjoyed playing on the new natural playground. They like to walk on the logs and in the sand box and dig big holes in the sand with the shovels and construction vehicles. The children have been riding/pulling the sleds and the bicycles in the playground.

We can continue to expand on their emerging skills by Introducing different activities such as the balance beam and stepping stones for balancing and walking. We can do hopscotch to practice jumping and bean bag toss to practice throwing. We have used these great gross motor activities to get out all their energy during Inside and outside play.

These activities help children to act out their feelings and develop their skills. The children are using their large body movements to balance, jump, walk run and ride. Gross motor functions are Important to help children perform everyday functions, such as walking, running, playground skills, and sporting skills (throwing and catching).
