Sensory Path

Preschool 1

A group of preschoolers have been working together to build an exciting obstacle course. They carefully place balance beams, spiny chairs and blocks. We decided to expand on their interest by creating a sensory path. Soon there are water splashes to jump on, green frogs to leap on, wiggly logs to balance across, and colourful hand and footprints to match and mirror. The children are laughing, hopping, stretching their arms wide, and concentrating hard as they move through the course.

The preschoolers are showing how creative they are. They are building teamwork and growing confidence. The children are not only being active, but also using their imaginations to transform simple materials into a playful adventure. As they leap like frogs and balance on logs, they are building coordination and body awareness. Matching the hand and footprints marks encourages focus and problem-solving, while working together strengthens their communication and social skills.

I wonder how we can make the obstacle course even more exciting next time. Maybe the children could design their own new stations or add sounds and the sensory path. We could invite them to draw a map of the course or create a story about travelling through a jungle or rain forest, there are so many extend their creativity and keep the fun going!
