Sharing love!

School-age 2

During the month of February, our learning experiences centered around the theme of love, kindness, and self-expression in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The children engaged in a creative art activity where they designed butterflies using heart-shaped paper doilies, exploring colour choices of red and pink to represent love in their own way. Through careful planning and construction, they assembled movable wings using popsicle sticks and tape, encouraging problem-solving and independent decision-making. The decorating process allowed children to express their individuality as they glammed up their butterflies with glittery stickers and googly eyes. In another meaningful activity, children reflected on the question, “What makes me feel loved?” and shared thoughtful responses rooted in family time, pets, food, shared experiences, and moments of joy. This discussion supported emotional awareness, communication skills, and empathy as children listened to and respected one another’s perspectives. These experiences reinforced the understanding that love exists in many forms and is something we nurture daily through connection, care, and shared happiness.
